Psalms 105-106
Over one-half of the states in our nation do not require the Holocaust to be taught in their schools. Only 75 years ago has this atrocity occurred, yet its truth and the evil that was so evident is being purposely removed. The 1619 Project, which fundamentally changes how our nation’s history is portrayed has already been adopted by certain city school systems and is gaining popularity. No longer will our founding fathers be portrayed as brave or heroic or submitted to God in the formation of our nation’s documents, but as evil slave owners. Those who push for our new versions of history are called visionaries, thought leaders, professors, doctors, educators, etc. Those who choose not to rewrite history and adhere to that which is written in the original documents are deemed ignorant and not progressive. This same thing is happening throughout the globe. Worse than this, it has been done to explain away and diminish God. His miracles have falsely been explained away by creating erroneous naturalistic explanations. His prophets have been diminished and their authorship has been questioned in the past two hundred years, especially Isaiah and Daniel. This despite a mountain of evidence to prove them wrong. In the process God’s character has been questioned, some even placing negative adjectives to describe our perfect and holy God.
Read the beginning of Psalm 105:1-5, “ Give thanks to the Lord and proclaim his greatness. Let the whole world know what he has done. Sing to him; yes, sing his praises. Tell everyone about his wonderful deeds. Exult in his holy name; rejoice, you who worship the Lord. Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him. Remember the wonders he has performed, his miracles, and the rulings he has given,”. The author then goes on to give a history lesson of God’s sovereign hand in the calling and the formation of the nation of Israel. When you read this you can’t help but praise His name. We read in 106:2, “ Who can list the glorious miracles of the Lord?
Who can ever praise him enough?” As we move from history to miracles we gain more reasons to trust and praise our God. You would think with all of this, the decision would be easy to follow Him, but we read the sad truth in 106:24-25, “ The people refused to enter the pleasant land, for they wouldn’t believe his promise to care for them. Instead, they grumbled in their tents and refused to obey the Lord.”
This is what many now choose to do. Jesus came to earth, carried our sins to the cross, and died so that eternal life could be ours, and we can one day “enter the pleasant land” of heaven. But like the people back then, most refuse His free offer and prefer to “grumble in their tents”. I know the term “woke” has been popularized, but our society is less “woke” now than ever. Those applying this term are anything but awake. History is being rewritten by those who arrogantly shake their fists at a perfect and holy God, and the ignorant sheep simply follow these evil shepherds blindly as their heretical thoughts and arrogance is given further weight fueled by a misled media and tech industry. When history is rewritten we are apt to repeat it. You want a history book which is accurate? Pick up your Bible and read it. You want accurate thought leaders? Go to a Bible based church, such as Calvary Chapel Old Bridge, and sit under the teaching of those shepherds who are willing to submit to the Good Shepherd, Jesus Christ. Everyone must choose who and what they are going to believe and trust.
