Job 40:6-42:17

As we conclude the book of Job, especially as I meditate upon the words in Job 38:1-42:6, I find myself reading each verse slowly, as I am simply amazed at the depth and the spectrum of the majesty of my creator God. Though God asks Job seventy-seven questions from His creation, all of which Job could not answer, He could have easily asked 7 million questions, so much higher is our God than any of us. When we are young, we are malleable, our minds are expanding, we are open to new thoughts and new ideas. As we get older we tend to become a bit more fixed in our ways. That is why the theory of evolution is so dangerous. The scientific method which began in the seventeenth century begins with a hypothesis or a thought, which then undergoes systematic observation, measurement, and experiment, and the formulation, testing, and modification of that hypothesis. It is said that criticism is the backbone of the scientific method. Yet, it seems if one critiques evolution, then that person is attacked for such heretical thoughts. The theory of evolution has been put forth as science, with its claims of everything arising millions and billions of years ago. Yet, who was around millions of years ago to put it through the rigors of the scientific method? Absolutely, no one. The theory of evolution is just that, a theory, and is flawed in so many ways. Charles Darwin, the author of "The Origin of Species" in 1859, is the originator of the theory of evolution. In his book he pondered, "Why, if species have descended from other species by insensibly fine gradations, do we not everywhere see innumerable transitional forms". He was openly concerned that the lack of transitional fossils, or missing links disproved his theory and hoped in the years to come, many such missing links would be found. 160 years later, there have been very few findings, and those that have been found often have been frauds or exaggerations. In his own book, he admitted that the eye is so complex that it is absurd to consider that it evolved by natural selection. The Cambrian Explosion which reveals the simultaneous appearance of a great group of species, rather than their slowly transitioning, gives proof to problem of his theory, as he himself said in his book, "The case at present must remain inexplicable; and may be truly urged as a valid argument against the views here entertained." Despite the lack of proof, despite requiring more faith to believe in this theory than to believe in a Creator God, it has been ingrained as fact in the minds of our young and old for close to one hundred years now, and is recognized as fact. Why? Because it effectively pushed God out of the public and our schools.

We read in Job 40:15-24, about one of God's creations, that Job would have first hand, eyewitness knowledge of called the "Behemoth". We read about it in these verses, "“Take a look at Behemoth, which I made, just as I made you. It eats grass like an ox. See its powerful loins and the muscles of its belly. Its tail is as strong as a cedar. The sinews of its thighs are knit tightly together. Its bones are tubes of bronze. Its limbs are bars of iron. It is a prime example of God’s handiwork, and only its Creator can threaten it....It lies under the lotus plants, hidden by the reeds in the marsh..." This animal, which has no modern equivalent having it's long tail and powerful limbs, appears to be what we would call the dinosaur, "Brontosaurus Rex". For those who question why dinosaurs were not mentioned by name, the term "dinosaur" was first coined in 1842. That man and dinosaurs would live side by side, is contrary to evolutionary theory. In 2005, there was a discovery of soft tissue in the fossils of a T. Rex bone. They found red cells, blood vessels, and collagen, all of which should not be able to survive more than thousands of years. This presents a problem to evolutionists since they claim that dinosaurs became extinct 66 million years ago. But never willing to let go of their theory despite new proof to the contrary, rather than entertaining that perhaps dinosaurs existed recently they have spent all of their efforts trying to explain how soft tissue could have survived millions of years. As you read about Leviathan in Job 41:13-20, " ...and who can penetrate its double layer of armor? Who could pry open its jaws? For its teeth are terrible! The scales on its back are like rows of shields tightly sealed together...When it sneezes, it flashes light! Its eyes are like the red of dawn. Lightning leaps from its mouth; flames of fire flash out. Smoke streams from its nostrils...". This sounds very much like what we would call a dragon. Why do we consider it inconceivable that Job would not have first hand knowledge of such an animal? For those who state dinosaurs and dragons would have killed all of mankind, why? Because movies like Jurassic Park make us think so? For those who ask how could they have made it through the flood? Dinosaurs are reptiles, which start out small and continue to grow, unlike humans who peak in their twenties then begin to decline. So, it is not inconceivable for Noah to have had pairs of small dinosaurs in the ark.

Why is all of this so important? Because most people believe the lie of evolution, and ignorance to God is not now and will never be an excuse for disbelief in a holy Creator God. In Romans, before Paul explains how Jesus Christ is the only One who can settle our account of sin, making us not guilty before our Creator, as detailed in Romans 3:21-26, Paul spends three chapters describing how everyone is otherwise condemned before God. He describes those who want to use ignorance of His creation as a defense in Romans 1:18-20, "But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God." Once Job listened to God's questions through creation, we see his response in Job 42:2-6, “I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop you. You asked, ‘Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?’ It is I—and I was talking about things I knew nothing about, things far too wonderful for me. You said, ‘Listen and I will speak! I have some questions for you, and you must answer them.’ I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes. I take back everything I said, and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.” Like Job. may all of us see God's creation for the magnificent work that it is and come before Him in humility and repentance when we rightly see ourselves, His created compared to Him, our Creator. Thank you God, for your marvelous creation!
